The Maritime Crime Programme of the UNODC hosts maritime law enforcement training courses in three different locations throughout the year.
This past week, the Maritime Crime Programme in Seychelles has hosted a third successful 10 day Basic Seamanship course which was attended by 4 members of the Seychelles Coast Guard. The course included classroom and practical training during which students could apply the theory they learned during the classroom sessions. The students engaged in exercises improving their swimming skills, first aid at sea, practical exercises on boat handling, fire fighting, anchoring, towing, beaching and the correct use of a life jacket. The Regional Fusion and Law Enforcement Center for Safety and Security at Sea (REFLECS 3) provided training facilities and the course was funded by the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. Congratulations to all the participants on the completion of the course!
